Sympathy
:
A feeling for others; an identification with the interests and fortunes
of another human being, a character in literature, or any animate or inanimate
object which one's imagination endows with human attributes. This alliance
or identification stops short of the complete identification with the thing
itself that empathy (Einfühlung, or "feeling into")
implies. (See also Empathy.)
