What is 3D printing service at Digital Exploration Lab (DEL)?
The 3D printing service at DEL allows you to reserve 3D printers for printing your 3D model. The lab oversees the printing process, and upon completion of your print job, you will receive a notification to pick it up.
What are the accepted file types?
STL files are the recommended file type for slicing in CURA software. While we also support GCODE and UFP files, using them may result in unreasonably dense prints and longer printing times.
How many colors can I choose from? Our current inventory carries the colours pink, red, green, orange, and blue. Models can only be printed using two colors maximum. There is no guarantee that a specific colour will be available to use.
What is the maximum model size for each printer?
The STL model prints must not exceed 100mm × 100mm × 100mm, regardless of the printer selected.
How much does it cost to use one of the 3D printers at DEL?
3D printing at DEL is free for academic purpose.
How can I print 3D objects at DEL?
3D printing service is available to users, who have attended a training workshop and completed the safety quiz. Drop-in schedule to be available shortly.
