digital storytelling: What is digital storytelling?
Digital storytelling shares a narrative using an interactive, multimedia format. You can combine text, images, audio, video, and other media to tell a story in any subject area.

The Digital Storytelling Quercus course (login required) is available to members of the University community. It introduces key tools and concepts. You can take the full series or choose individual topics, such as video editing or digital accessibility.
Tools you can use
ArcGIS StoryMaps is a tool developed by Esri. It helps you create engaging stories by combining text, interactive maps, and multimedia content.
Digital collections: Our work with digital collections
We work with institutional and community partners to digitize, describe, and preserve unique digital collections. This includes both digitized and born-digital materials.
Share and preserve your research
TSpace is a free, secure research repository managed by University of Toronto Libraries. It helps you share and preserve your work.
You can deposit a wide range of materials, including grey literature and published articles. All items are openly accessible, either right away or after a publisher’s embargo period.
You can submit your work to an existing University of Toronto Scarborough collection or the Public Policy Reports collection.
Open Educational Resources (OER): Tools for creating digital content
PressBooks is an online tool you can use to create and format books and documents. Your work is accessible across different platforms. It is part of eCampusOntario’s Open Library Publishing Platform.
eCampusOntario H5P Studio helps you create, share, and find interactive learning content. It uses H5P, an open-source tool, so you can easily build interactive materials for courses and other teaching projects.
Podcasting: What is a podcast?
A podcast is a series of audio episodes you can listen to online. You can stream or download episodes to your computer or mobile device.
Learn how to create your own
Explore our Introduction to Podcasting guide. You can also join Makerspace workshops.
You can borrow equipment from the library’s technology lending collection or use the Podcast Room to record your episodes.
