Earth Sciences

Supports research and teaching both at graduate and undergraduate levels in Earth Sciences, Forestry, Environment, and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology.

The Earth Sciences Library supports research and teaching both at graduate and undergraduate levels in Earth Sciences, Forestry, Environment, and Ecology and Evolutionary Biology. The collection contains materials in forestry, geology, botany, zoology, ecology, and natural history. Though there is some overlap, materials in environmental studies particularly in the area of health and the environment are generally collected by the Gerstein Science Information Centre, and materials in environmental policy are collected by the Robarts Library. The Earth Sciences Library will collect materials in those areas upon request.

Core journals are maintained in print format upon faculty request, but online subscriptions are preferred over print.  Any new subscription will be acquired in electronic format only.

Monographs are selected in print or electronic format depending upon user request.  Monographs from Springer, Wiley, Elsevier, Oxford, and Cambridge are automatically purchased in electronic format.  Duplicate print copies of ebooks will only be purchased upon request.

Materials in the Earth Sciences Library that are generally collected are: periodicals, conference proceedings, monographic series, scholarly monographs, handbooks, and reference works.  Text books are only purchased if specifically requested by faculty for course reserve.

Primarily, but not exclusively, current materials in English are collected.
