The Margo Sandor Children’s Literature Collection (CLC) includes over 11,000 works of fiction for children and young adults. The collection features picture books, novels, short story collections, poetry, big books, and graphic novels. The CLC is made possible through a generous donation made by Peter Sandor in 1997, in memory of his wife, Margo, a children’s librarian.

Scope of the collection

Collection strengths: There is a focus on:

Canadian works
award -winning books
dual language books
dual format text / braille books
Indigenous works
books on themes including bullying, peacemaking, social justice, and multiculturalism

Chronological coverage: The CLC contains new titles, award winners, as well as older works and some historical items of research value.

Geographical coverage: A focus is placed on Canadian and American works, as well as international award winners.

Languages: Most books are in English. French language materials are collected selectively. Dual language books (English and a second language) are collected selectively, with a focus placed on Indigenous languages.
