University of Toronto Libraries Student Advisory Committee (LSAC) aims to gather feedback and views from the student community to enhance the student experience. U of T Libraries offer a wide range of services and programs, as well as spaces and facilities that students frequently use. In an effort to take a student-centered approach in developing these offerings, the LSAC will recruit eight (8) student members whose demonstrated leadership on campus, interest in the libraries and collaboration will create a positive impact on the student experience at the libraries.
Who can apply: Students from any faculty and level of study (undergraduate or graduate) are welcome to apply. The last date we are accepting applications to the LSAC is October 27th for the 2023-2024 year.
We value a diverse mix of student backgrounds and experiences with U of T Libraries. Candidates who are members of Indigenous, Black, racialized and 2SLGBTQ+ communities, persons with disabilities, and other equity deserving groups are encouraged to apply.
Students able to demonstrate leadership and community-based involvement on campus are preferred. The expectation from LSAC members is that they are proactive, exhibit strong collaboration skills and have an interest in library-related issues. Students with all levels of familiarity with the Libraries are welcome to apply.
Schedule: In the 2023-2024 academic year, the LSAC will meet three (3) times, with meetings lasting 1.5 hours each. Our first meeting is scheduled on Monday, November 6, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4PM.
Please note: You must be able to attend all three meetings to join the committee. Students must be able to attend all three in-person meetings at Robarts Library to join the committee. Meeting schedule:
- Monday, November 6th, 2023 from 2:30 PM to 4PM
- Monday, January 29th, 2024 from 2:30 PM to 4PM
- Tuesday, March 5th, 2024 from 3PM to 4:30PM
What’s in it for you: Benefits to participating in the community include student leadership experience, networking with Library administration and staff, access to future opportunities at the Library and building community among student leaders. We will also provide refreshments and facilitate fun community-building activities at each meeting, in addition to the opportunity to earn student recognition through Co-Curricular Record (CCR).
